I am so dangerous. I get in trouble at art galleries and museums, most every time I visit.
My most recent trip to the Walker this weekend yielded these pictures of paintings by Julian Schnabel. If I didn't love Julian's work so much, I'd probably hate him. At the bottom of the frame in the third picture, you can see a guard coming to tell me that I'm not allowed to take pictures of these paintings. Luckily my iPhone has an HDR option that essentially takes doubles- this is perfect for the frequent occurrence of when a guard asks you to delete the pictures and they need to watch you do it.
In addition to being a tremendous painter, Julian Schnabel is also a very talented director. His film, "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" was nominated for four Academy Awards.
Apparently he doesn't like his work being photographed before they are purchased from his galleries. Luckily I'm smarter than the average bear- and willing to show you the goods!
PS Go rent the movie.
PPS Julian- don't sue me….please.
